After spending nearly a decade as a reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper, Robert Annis broke free of the shackles of gainful employment to become an award-winning outdoor-travel journalist (and certified bear guide). Over the years, he's photographed Alaskan brown bears, fly fished for rainbow trout in Patagonia, skied the world's best powder in Japan, and pedaled Cuba with its national masters team and lived to tell about it in the pages of Athlon Untamed, National Geographic, Outside, Travel + Leisure, and many other publications. He's also contributed to both DK's Ride: Cycle the World and WILDSAM's Wild Alaska guidebooks.
